Ms. Deborah C. Hopkins, also known as Debby, serves as the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Innovation Officer and Chairman of Venture Capital Initiatives at Citi Ventures, Inc. Ms. Hopkins has been the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Innovation Officer since May 2008. She serves as Advisor at Riverwood Capital. Ms. Hopkins serves as a Senior Adviser to investment banking clients, Co-Chairman of Women’s Initiative and Chairman of Venture Capital Initiatives at Citigroup Inc. and has been its Chief Innovation Officer, Managing Director of Institutional Clients Group and Senior Advisor of Institutional Clients Group since May 2008. She focuses on building partnerships with venture capitalists, start-ups, corporations, universities and thought leaders to support the incubation of emerging technologies in the design, development and implementation of disruptive customer centric business models.
Ms. Hopkins is responsible for developing and leading Citi’s approach to creative, forward-looking collaboration with external constituencies, including current and prospective clients, venture capital firms, government agencies and academic institutions. She also creates and direct methods to maximize the internal creativity of Citi’s newly reorganized corporate structure. She served as Managing Director of Investment Banking Clients of Citigroup, Inc. since December 2005.
Ms. Hopkins served as a Managing Director and Senior Adviser of Investment Banking Clients at Citigroup, Inc. since December 2005. She has held several senior roles at Citi since 2003, including Chief Operations and Technology Officer from 2003 to 2005 and Head of Corporate Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions. Ms. Hopkins served as the Chief Financial Officer of Boeing Co. from 1998 to 2000 and Alcatel-Lucent USA, Inc. She was a Chief Financial Officer of Lucent Technologies from 2000 to 2001. Ms. Hopkins served as a Vice President of Finance for General Motors Europe and Vice President and General Auditor of General Motors Corporation. She served as a Chief Financial Officer at GM Europe from 1995 to 1998. She served as a Senior Partner of Marakon Associates, Inc. and also served as its Executive Officer. She was a Senior Advisor at the firm in 2001.
She served as a Corporate Controller at Unisys from 1982 to 1995. She has been a Director of Qlik Technologies, Inc. since April 6, 2011. She serves as a Director at Mobile Money Ventures LLC. She serves as a Member of the Advisory Board at Riverwood Capital since 2008. She serves as a Trustee of the Committee for Economic Development. She served as the Chairman of Boeing Capital Corp. She served as a Director of Cegedim, Inc. She served as a Director of Citibank N.A., of Citigroup, Inc. and CitiCorp Holdings, Inc for five years. She served as a Director of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company from 2000 to April 27, 2005. She has held significant leadership positions at various multinational companies. In 2000, Fortune magazine named her the second most powerful woman in American business. She received Honorary Doctorate from Westminster College. She also received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Walsh College in 2013. She holds a B.A. in Accounting from Walsh College from 1975 to 1977.
