Lord. Alan Sugar is Founder of Amstrad. Lord Sugar serves as Chairman of Amscreen Group Limited. Lord Sugar also serves as the Chairman and Managing Director at Amshold Trading Limited. He was knighted in 2000. In 2008 he was appointed to the Government Business Council by PM Gordon Brown, and in 2009 he led the government’s Apprenticeship advertising campaign and roadshow seminars. He was awarded a life peerage, becoming Alan, Baron Sugar of Clapton in the London Borough of Hackney. Lord Sugar is also well known as the popular star of the award-winning BBC series The Apprentice, and the more recent Young Apprentice. He has two honorary Doctor of Science degrees, one awarded by the City of London University in 1988, and the other from Brunel University in 2005.
