William A. Tindell III
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Container Store Group, Inc.
Mr. William A. Tindell, also known as Kip, III, has been the Chief Executive Officer of The Container Store Group, Inc. since 2006 and has been its Chairman since August 2007. Mr. Tindell served as President and Chief Operating Officer of The Container Store since 2005. He co-founded The Container Store, Inc. in 1978 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer and President. He has been Co-Chairman of The Container Store since February 19, 2007. He serves as the Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Executive Committee of National Retail Federation Inc. Mr. Tindell has been an Independent Director of Whole Foods Market, Inc. (WFM) since November 2008. He has been a Director of The Container Store, Inc. since July 1978. He is a member of the Dallas Arboretum CEO Advisory Council and serves on the Board of Directors of Baylor Healthcare Systems Foundation. He serves on the board of Conscious Capitalism Institute and Conscious Capitalism, Inc., a community of like-minded business, thought and academic leaders working to elevate humanity through a conscious approach to business. Mr. Tindell is an active member of the Dallas Salesmanship Club, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming children’s futures by serving at-risk families in the Greater Dallas area. He was presented the Ernst & Young’s prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1991 and is a recipient of the National Retail Federation’s 1998 Innovator of the Year Award. In 2006, he was inducted into the Retailing Hall of Fame and is a 2009 Junior Achievement of Dallas Business Hall of Fame inductee. In 2011 Mr. Tindell received the National Retail Federation’s Gold Medal Award, which is generally regarded as the industry’s top accolade, given to individuals who have served the industry with distinction and achieved a national reputation for excellence to the retail craft.
